First independent director appointment
We're delighted to announce the appointment of Gillian Blythe as our first independent director.
Gillian will officially join the Board in June.
Commenting on the appointment, ENA Chair, Nigel Barbour, says "With over thirty years’ experience in the electricity and water sectors, Gillian brings strong leadership skills, commercial acumen and highly relevant expertise to the Board. She has a solid track record in adding value in all the organisations she has been involved in. We're delighted to have Gillian join the ENA Board and we look forward to working with her."
Gillian is currently the Chief Executive of Water NZ and her career includes senior executive and governance roles in energy, construction, infrastructure, workforce and water.
Appointing an independent director was determined at the ENA Annual General Meeting in Oct 2023. The Board and ENA members expressed that it will bring greater diversity and fresh thinking. This will be incredibly valuable with electricity networks playing an increasingly important role as we meet New Zealand's rising demand for more electricity.
